Legal Question in Consumer Law in Maryland

Used Car Blowout....

I brought a car from a private seller, she stated that the car was in good condition and great condition in two different ads..I had the car in my possesion less then a week on the way to get the car inspected the car conked out on me, luckily for me I was at the enterance of the Midas that I was going to, the mechanic informed me not to try to drive the car that something was broke in the engine (he told me what he thought it was but I forgot exactly what he said). So where does that leave me I called her and she told me that I should expect to put money in a used car?? Yes..that is true but not replace and ENGINE..What legal recourse do I have?? No where on anything does it say AS IS..Am I responsible for this car?? I did not have a chance to register it because it died..Please HELP !!! I have filed a claim in Civil Court, but where do I go from here??

Re: Used Car Blowout....

Essentially you have a breach of contract claim that the car did not live up to what was advertised. If you have the promised condition in writing via the ads, you are in better shape than if there had been only verbal promises. You will want to bring the ads to court.
