Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

I went into a contract to by an RV from a friend last November, 2010. The purchase price was $12000.00. There was no set payment plan or "due by" date. I gave him a $6000.00 deposit, and later, gave him $1200.00 more dollars. I spoke to him today, and he told me he sold it to someone else. He is not willing to give me back the $7200.00 I have already given him. What should I do?

If there isn't a due date in the contract, it is assumed you must pay within a reasonable time.

Demand a refund in writing. If he refuses to return your money, sue him for the amount you paid and other damages arising from the breach of contract). You may get a judgment for all, a portion, or none of the amount you sue him for in court.
