Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

My husband receieved an interrogatories in aid of execution for a bank loan that he didn't pay before we were married. We submitted the answers that they were asking for. I know they can garnish his wages but can they garnish my wages also? This was a loan in his name that wasn't paid before we were married. I'm not sure if this matters since we are now married.

I'm not apposed to making payments on this loan but i can't afford much and can't afford to pay the whole thing at once. It's about $2,500.

Any assistance would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you!

No, your wages cannot be garnished if you are not a judgment debtor.

The judgment creditor (the person who sued and won) can try to get at your husband's assets and wages. Note that the law does exempt some property from garnishment, but you would need to proactively file with the court to receive the benefit of these exemptions.
