Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland
Interrogatories To Defendant...Please Help
My husband is being sued on a voluntery repossed van in 2000. Have had no contact with this company until Dec. 03. They have filed a lawsuit against my husband. Our defense is that we believe the SOL has expired. Now they send us ''Interrogatories To Defendant'' with like 13 questions. The questions are long and written in a way that makes them hard to understand. I have tried to secure legal assistance, to no avail. (we simply cannot afford an attorny) I must get the response to these in the mail today or they are going to win by default (what they are telling us). Could someone Please help me with this today. Thank you in advance!

Standard interrogatories for debt collection resolve around your income or assets. If you are being sued for collection contact an attorney for assistance.

You need to answer as best you can. And object to questions that you can't understand as being incomprehensible. As long as you answer or object, they can't get a default. They would need to move to compel answers if you object, at which point you can tell the judge that you do not understand the questions. No lawyer can give you legal advice on responding to specific interrogatories without being retained. Perhaps if you can't afford an attorney you can go to legal aid and see if they can represent you.
