Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland
Papers for a civil suit ( small claims/credit card) were served at my home for me but I was not there.. The guest at my house took them. Does this mean I have been legally served with these documents? I am out of town for 3 months.

The service was improper. However, don't ignore it.
You should file a motion to dismiss based upon improper service of process.
Otherwise, the creditor may file for default judgment.
It will be harder to reverse the default judgment than to file the motion to dismiss.
If you need additional information about your rights, I have offices in Baltimore and Bethesda.
