Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

My 15yr old. daughter missed about a month of school due to the following issues, i had withdrawn her from school and was unware that i had a time frame to re-enroll her into another school, bad weather conditions and she was pregnant, i had an older child in the hospital near death, and then i had health issues that i had to tend to. I have to go to court and it says that i can either get a 50 dollar fine or 10 days in jail. I would like to know my chances of not going to jail. She has never missed that kind of time from school before and her grades are lovely. I have a son who is in school as well and he doesn't miss time out of school.

Chances are the court's goal would be to encourage compliance with the law by suspending the sentence and imposing probation. However, if this is not the first offense, then jail becomes more likely.
