Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
I was asked to write a statement about my boyfriends crime. I was scared to say no, so I wrote the statement. Now, they are making me testify against him in court to give him time. I do not want to testify because his crime wasn't that serious ( theft charges ). Is there any way around it?

If you are summoned, and if you do not comply, then you may be held in contempt of court. However, the state decides whether to seek a body attachment, and whether to pursue the case, if you fail to appear. Sometimes the state does, and sometimes it does not.
