Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

ATF Drugs

An ATF and a local deputy showed up at my house and say that they have my car on surveillance during a drug deal. They want me to give them a name of the dealer. A few months ago I had a roommate that was having some problems with drugs. I have never bought coke or crack in my life. But I do have a felony charge for marijuana from over 15 years ago. They said that I have to give them a name or be at the Federal Courthouse to go in front of a grand jury in 2 days. I told them that if they had surveillance they should be able to see that it was not me. Besides if they had enough to charge me, why didn't they? Seems to me the only choice I have is to stand trial for something I didn't do or rat out a friend of mine to the feds. Is this common for the ATF to use threatening tactics or should I really be worried? Not sure what to do.

Re: ATF Drugs

Police Agencies always use scare tactics. DO NOT SPEAK TO ANYONE WITHOUT A LAWYER. Go to my website at www.weatherspoonfirm.com and click on criminal law, and then to more on 5th amendment rights. There you will see a card I created for this type of thing. Print it out and carry it with you. DON'T CONFIRM, DENY OR GIVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF OTHER THAN IDENTIFYING INFORMATION!!
