Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
I cashed a 3rd party check from capital one that was addressed to me and for some reason capital one put a stop payment on the check and i did not find out until after i cashed it at this liquor store, i signed it over to the liquor store and just put my phone number on the back. They did not write down my drivers license or anything. the liquor store does not know yet and capital one said they are just issuing the refund check back to my capital one credit card account. Can the liquor store go after me criminally or civally? I dont have all the $ to pay them back right now as that money went to bills.

Anyone might be charged with a crime, regardless of whether he or she has in fact broken the law. If you receive a charge, consider a confidential consultation with an experienced criminal defense lawyer. Beware that on line posts are not confidential. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, then apply to the Office of the Public Defender for an appointed one.
