Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

I was charged with several misdemeanors (punishable by one year or less) and felonies. I believe the Statute of Limitations have expired on the misdemeanors. Can a motion by filed before the trial to strike the misdemeanors so that I can focus on the felonies?

You may file pretty much any motion that you want, but this probably will not be granted. In addition, if you end up in plea negotiations, you would not have anything to bargain down. Misdemeanors might result in probation or brief confinement. Felonies are worse.

I agree, I would leave them alone until you find out what kind of plea offer is made.
