I was charged with possession 1g of marijuana and paraphernilia. I'm 18, and will be put to trial over my intersession or break. What can I expect from the court as well from my university?

It depends on your record, you could get up to a year in jail. But there are several possible defenses, so get a lawyer! Your school may also expel or suspend you and kick you out of the dorms, this took place on campus?

Depending on whether you have a prior record, and whether the jurisdiction has diversion, your charges might be dismissed for completing a drug awareness class and community service. However, you could be sentenced to year in jail. Perhaps you might have defenses, but evaluating that and pursuing them requires experience. Consider whether you are willing to risk your freedom, your future, and benefits such as student loans.

I suggest that you not risk discussing further details about your case in public fora, such as this, because law enforcement and others might discover it and use it against you. Seek a confidential consultation with an experienced criminal defense attorney.
