Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
i have a court date for a theft under $100.00 coming up. not only this but the store manager charged me with second degree assault. because the charges were brought by the store owner and i was NOT arrested @ the scence does this make any difference? also should i pay the money for what was taken before court to try to get charges dropped?

The store owner may have made the complaint, but the charges have been brought by the state. Who the complainant is and that you were not arrested does not make a difference. Even if you pay the money to the complainant, the state does not have to drop the charges, and the payment could be taken as an admission of guilt.
