Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
If the DA got a court order to get your DNA and you gave it to them. Why would they need another voluntary sample? What could have happened to the first sample they received?

You must comply with a valid warrant, but you do not have volunteer to do what law enforcement wants for an investigation. Anything could have happened to the first sample.
