Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Second degree escape???
My brother was recently picked up for a warrant for failure to appearin charles county, Maryland. He was picked up in alleghany county. when Charles county picked him up they said there was now a new charge of second degree escape. My question is what is the definition of this crime? and how can you be charged with escape when you were never in custody? they say the new charge could put him in jail for 10 years? could you please help me to understand these charges.

Was a preliminary hearing held? Was bail or bond posted? Did on order issue to report to a place of confinement?
Second degree escape depends on several factors.
Violation of this charging document is subject to imprisonment not to exceed 3 years and/or a fine of $5,000.00.
