Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

My ex-boyfriend went to jail last night for second-degree assault. Today when he comes home, my old room mate says that he is not allowed to talk or see me indefinitely, basically forever. He also said I have to go to court if I want to get it taken back? How would I go about doing that since I never really said I wanted a restraining order in the first place? Is there anyway I can get information on it? He is never normally a violent person, and I don't plan to get back with him, we just share a dog and many of the same hang out places, and this order will make it nearly impossible to do those things.

Contact the court that issued the no contact order and ask to have it modified.
