felony dismissal

if you receive a letter from the judge after a preliminary hearing stating for u to return to district court on a certain date for felony dismissal, what does that mean?

It sounds like you are charged with a felony, and maybe some other charges that are not as serious as felonies (like misdemeanors). It appears from your question that the court or the prosecution is going to dismiss the felony charge, leaving only any other charges you may be facing. As I always advise anyone charged with a crime, you should consult with and consider hiring an experienced defense attorney BEFORE going to court.

It generally means that the Court has given the states attorney 30 days to either dismiss or forward to the circuit court. In most cases the matter is either forwarded to the circuit court or amended to a non felony case.
