If you give your DNA for a paternity test is it going to come up in the system the crime lab uses to link individuals to crimes?

It may. The Maryland Code and the Code of Maryland Regulations do not appear to regulate what happens to test samples. Generally speaking private labs handle the tests, while crime labs in the state are state agencies, such as the State Police. On the other hand, there are occasional news reports about how swamped the police are trying to test all of the DNA material already collected from crime scenes. Some evidence goes untested for years.
