Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Ok so hypothetical situation I need answered. If a drug dealer in MD is caught with half a pound of marijuana and their phones were confiscated, but the text and calls were all deleted, could anybody they made transactions with get in trouble? Or are text messages without the person actually caught buying or distributing not enough?
1 Answer from Attorneys
No one can guarantee that anyone with whom the arrested person had contact might not be charged with a crime. Anyone might be accused, regardless of whether he or she has in fact broken the law. Consider seeking a confidential consultation with an experienced criminal defense attorney, and remember that online posts are not confidential. If somehow the prosecution were to find them, they might be used in evidence against you.
