Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Why would a jail take a second set of fingerprints of an inmate? He was told they were needed as a means to identification for the Notary. Could they be possibly trying to link him to another case?

Perhaps the first ones were not done properly, damaged, or lost. Once the state has a piece of evidence, it may use it to investigate anything, and that may result in additional charges.
