How long does the police have to get the chemical analysis back before the case is dismissed?

There is no time limit.
If the state requests a postponement, then the court decides whether there is good cause to grant the postponement. The defense may oppose postponement. In a felony case, the court might refuse to grant postponement for a chemical analysis that has not been completed by the Hick's date. Hick's rule also known as Maryland Rule 4-271 provides that the state must try a defendant's case within 180 days of either the defendant's first appearance in Circuit Court or counsel's entry of appearance on behalf of the defendant.
