Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

What exactly makes you a convicted felon? How can I check if I'm a felon? I have misdemeanors, but I'm pretty sure I don't have felonies. Thanks for your help!

You would have to actually have been convicted of a felony. That is, you plead guilty or were found guilty of a felony. Even if you were ever charged with a felony, but the case was dropped, you received a Stet or a PBJ, these would not be considered a conviction.

If you have a criminal record for misdemeanors, this would not make you a "convicted felon."

How can you check? Ask a Maryland criminal defense attorney and/or obtain a copy of your criminal record.

If you have ever been charged in another state or federal court, then each place that you believe you may have a record must be checked.
