Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Minor Purchasing Alcohol
My 18 year old son received a citation for purchasing beer. He did not have a fake ID. The establishment just did not card him. The fine says $500-$1000 on the citation. He was caught by a police 'sting' type operation whereas the police were watching the store through binoculars and relayed an underage looking person leaving to an unmarked policeman who then ticketed both my son and a boy who was with him. Do I need to hire a lawyer for his must appear court date??

Re: Do I have to hire a lawyer?
You never have to hire a lawyer. However all criminal and juvenile cases are serious because you can get a record, fined and imprisoned. Therefore, you should at least consult with a lawyer about the charges.
