Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Money

My father passed away several years ago. My mother sold her house and had taken the money and gifted to all the children. Unfortunately I was going through a custody issue with my first wife and we didn't want her to touch the money so we put it under my wifes name. My wife had verbally agreed that she would give the money back to my mother if GOD forebid something happened to the two of us. the money was not to be used by us and we were to keep it safe in case my mother would need the funds. My wife and I are going through a divorce and she has stated that if I don't agree to her separation terms she will not return the money back to my mother. Is this considered Black Mail?
