Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Last night I received a speeding ticket for going 74 in a 55. I am seventeen, and I am concerned that my rates will go up if I pay the fine and be on my way. The ticket isn't much, it's $90 and two points, but I do not want my insurance rates to go up. Is it worth it to plead guilty with explanation or just to pay the ticket? I was speeding, plain and simple. I don't really have an explanation other than I was tired and it was 11:47 at night when I was pulled over. (I was coming home from the homecoming dance at my high school.) What is the most prudent course of action from here?

If you pay the ticket and be on your way, you know it's two points. If you go to Court, maybe you get lucky and the judge knocks the speed down a little and gives you a break on the points....maybe not.
Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
If the cop fails to appear, then you will be found not guilty, pay no fine, and incur no points.
