Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
i was parked and cops came and searched me and my car and found a knife about 6 marijuana seeds and a little pipe that marijuana had been smoked out of. i was not arrested but later given a court date through the mail. i tried to postpone the court date but was denied because i had not been served. since i have not been legally served should I go to court?

Your effort to postpone the case will show the court that you had knowledge of the court date, and the court may then issue a warrant, if you fail to appear. I suggest that you appear and request a postponement to get a lawyer.
You raise a possible issue regarding whether the police had probable cause to search you and your car. A lawyer can assist you in evaluating evidence, a plea offer, trying your case, and seeking a fair sentence, if you were convicted. I offer a free initial consultation.
