Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
If a person is sentenced to 30 years with all but 12 years suspended, with 5 years probation...they are incarcerated for 8 of the 12 years...if the person violates the probation, how much time do they have to serve when they are returned to prison?

The Parole Commission would decide how much of the 4 and the court would decide how much of the 18. Potentially, the defendant faces up to 22 years.
