can the police go into your crouch while we are in public?

They have to be able to justify what they do to a judge, if you challenge the reasonableness of the search before trial. If they saw a person hide a gun, they can probably search in public, but if they think that a person hid drugs, then they would probably have to arrest and search at Central Booking.
