Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
I received a cell phone as a gift with the understanding that i would pay the bill. The phone service is in another person's name. The other person and I are no longer on speaking terms, so she wants the phone back. If she calls the police, can they arrest me for theft? i gave her the money for the bill and she paid the bill, then suspended my phone service. Can I do anything about that either?

I suggest either having a witness with you, if you return it in person, or have a delivery service get a receipt.
Anyone may be accused of a crime and arrested for it, regardless of whether he or she in fact broke the law.
