Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
I rented a room in a shared house that got raided. it was raided because the police said they surveyed my roommate buying drugs outside the house. my name or description was not mentioned at all in the probable cause statement to raid the house. the police said they went through the trash and found marijuana stems. when they raided the house they went into the basement where my roommate was sleeping and found drugs in his pocket. then they went through the rest of the house and finally my room. they found a marijuana "roach" on the floor and my medication which they charged me with both. I have a legit prescription for my medication so im not worried about that but the marijuana "roach" could violate my probation. my question is... Is it legal for the police to search my private room for which I pay rent in that house? Especially since I wasn't mentioned in any part of their investigation? thank you

An experienced criminal defense attorney can help you evaluate the prosecution's case, any defenses that you might have, and any plea offer that might be made, so that you can decide whether to go to trial. Consider seeking a confidential consultation.
