Suppression is the way that illegal and prejudicial evidence is prevented from corrupting the verdict in a trial. Initially, the party seeking suppression does so by motion. Maryland Rules 4-251 and 4-252 deal with motions in district and circuit court, respectively. 4-253 deals with joint or separate trials of multiple defendants, multiple charges, and avoiding prejudice.
