Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
If the states attorney does not have enough evidence to prosecute and wants to postpone the hearing. What is the legal right of the defendant? My son just gave the news. The court date is today.

The defendant can object to the postponement. Then the court decides whether it is satisfied that "good cause" exists to popstpone the case. Often the courts tend to find good cause for the state's request, if the defendant does not have an attorney.
