Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
An unknown person has created a malicious facebook page, using my photo and personnel information. The page was sent the several family members, friends and employees requesting they become friends. The information posted on the profile page was very vulgar, profane and slanderous to say the least. I suspect its an ex girlfriend that has been recently harassing me and my fianc. I contacted the local PD and they advised they couldnt do anything about the harassing emails or message post but we could apply for a protective peace order for the harassing conduct. The most severe damage and embarrassment has been caused by the web post and what can I do to investigate the identity of the author? Is this a criminal or civil matter?
