Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland
Have been the victim of robbery. Stolen item, ATV, was recovered, but badly damaged. Individual was charged with possesion of stolen property, court date pending. Should I retain an attorney to help recup damages-greater than 5500.

Whether to retain an attorney is exclusively your decision. If the suspect is being prosecuted criminally, then contact the state's attorney's office. They can seek a restitution order. Keep in mind that it may be worthless, because you cannot get blood from a turnip. Also, an attorney would charge you to seek the recovery. At best you reduce your recovery, and at worst you send good money after bad.
