Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Hi, I wanted to know something about a felony. I was court arrested back in may be 1986 for welfare fraud. For some reason I looked on the web site where you can search for past convictions and low and behold there was a felony thing on the site for me. an you please tell me how can you get rid of this because my job in the nursing feild requires that we have background checks and on my applications they asked about felonies and i say no.Now I've lied about this (thats what they will think) please tell me what I can do about this situation. thank you Jacki Alvez

If the case was entered nolle prosequi, stet, or probation before judgement, you may file a petition for expungement, which if granted, would remove the case from the public record. However, if you were convicted, then you would have to prevail on a petition for coram nobis.
