Legal Question in DUI Law in Maryland

Driving a moped in maryland

My license is suspended in Illinois for failure to take the breathalyzer, and now I got a promotion at work and have to move to maryland, I was wondering what the law is in maryland on mopeds, scooters, or motorized bicycles, do I need a license that isn't suspended? do you need a license at all? Anybody have any suggestions on what I can do to get mobile? Can I get some sort of hardship license?

Mopeds under 49 CCs are not "motor vehicles" within the meaning of the MD statute prohibiting driving a motor vehicle with suspended license. You can get a special moped license also, I'm not sure if you would be eligible with a suspension. Check with MVA. I will caution, however, that in my experience, many in law enforcement will nevertheless arrest you on a moped because they don't understand the law. And also, driving without a moped license is also illegal, although the possible penalties are much less.
