Dui
My friend had a DUI in the state of nj 4years ago...he was recently stopped in the state of Maryland and has a pending court date. Does Nj have recipricocity with Maryland and what kind of penalty maybe involved if he is convicted?

The maximum penalties are 1 year and $1000 for a first offense, 2 years and $2000 for a second offense, and 3 years and $3000 for a third offense. DUI also carries 12 points with the MVA and at a hearing the driver's license may be revoked.

Re: Dui
If you are asking whether MD will know about the NJ conviction, the answer is probably, but it depends. And if the State can prove a prior, the penalties may increase. Also the likely penalty could vary widely from county to county. It could be anywhere from a suspended sentence to several days or weeks in jail. You should have him consult an experienced DUI attorney to provide more detailed information.
