Two years ago, a friend was issued a citation for serving alcohol to a minor while bartending. He stopped the customer from drinking realizing the mistake. However, the friend failed to appear and now has a two-year old outstanding warrant. What should he do and what is the likely outcome with good representation?

If you hired me, I would file a motion to quash the warrant if there is a good reason. And depending on which Court you are going to, I would be looking for a dismissal, or I would want the State to dismiss the charges for community service, or perhaps a Stet.
Perhaps there is a reason that the court date was missed and that the court might find persuasive enough to recall the warrant. Then either arrange to receive a summons or arrange for bail and surrender.
In preparation for the trial date evaluate whether the state can prove the charge and evaluate any plea offer. If convicted the best result would be probation before judgement.
