Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

2nd degree assault and no contact order

I need to know what I can do for my boy friend. We got into an argument and he hit me. I called the police and they found him hiding in my shed. He was charged with 2nd degree domestic assault and malicious destruction of property. They issued a no contact. I never went and pressed charges. His bail is $10,000 and this is his 1st time for this. He has prior shop lifting and VOP charges. What can I do to help him? I am the only person in this state he has and can not have a no contact. He slapped my face and left a red mark, there was no blood. I wish I had never called now. He has a pill problem and that is why he was acting out. Please tell me if I got to his bail review what I can do to get judge to drop charges police set and how to make him not to do a no contact order. I am all he has here in Maryland and all this is so new to me. I thought they would just keep him over night until he calmed down. I feel bad for all tat I have caused. Any and all help would be most appreciated. Thanks

Re: 2nd degree assault and no contact order

The charges will not be dropped at the bail review hearing. The only issue is whether his bail will be reduced and, if he is released, what restrictions would be in place.

I would suggest talking to the Assistant State's Attorney handling the case and explain your position regarding contact with the defendant.
