Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My child is now 15 years old and custody was taken away from me after i moved to MD. Guardianship was given to the grandmother because the mother was not able to care for the child. The grandmother's sister currently has guardianship (after the grandma passed). How can i now gain custody/guardianship of my child. i only just reunited with united with her this week via facebook.

Any advice would be greatly apppreciated.

Thank you

You can file a petition to modify custody, but after just making contact with her such efforts seem somewhat premature. She's old enough to make a decision about getting together with you and try and rekindle the father-child relationship. If she's willing to do this and the guardian tries to prevent it, you can file a petition for visitation. Then you can see where it goes. Once a child turns 16, they can pretty much determine which parent to live with, and once they're 18 they are adults.
