Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Custody

I have been a stay at home mom for 9 years..My husband never supports meworking, i have three children in elementary school. What chance would he have of trying to get them from me or trying to get joint custody. I have been the main caretaker of them, he just works but never involved in anything except my sons football which he is rather phanatical about to the point it has made my son very upset. He makes pretty good money and I know he will threaten to take them but what grounds would he have? How can I ensure this doesnt happen?

Re: Custody

Custody is comprised of physical custody and legal custody. Each aspect of custody is based upon the best interest of the child.

Without reviewing all factors pertaining to your case, there are several points worthy of note: you have devoted your life to the care of the children, this is relevant to both custody and divorce; he appears to be instrumental with aspects of the children's welfare but has not demonstrated an ability for continual care of day to day needs; and, the level of dispute between both parents has become an issue concerning the welfare of the children.

You should seriously consider hiring an attorney to assist with accomplishing your legal objectives. You also have several decisions to make that are not easy. Among the decisions is there may be a need for you to be able to manage working in some capacity while taking care of the children.
