Can someone who lived in the same residence as you withhold mail from you purposely?

It depends on a lot of different things. For instance, are you a minor? Is the person preventing you from getting the mail your guardian and/or parent? If you are an adult, and the mail is addressed to you, that person will have to fork it over.

If the person is withholding mail illegally, you can file a charge with the post office. They will investigate the matter. It is a violatiion to withhold mail.

Also, you may want to open a PO Box or UPS Store Box to avoid the problem in the future.
