Temporary Guardianship of Nephew

Could you please tell me how do I obtain temporary guardianship of my nephew? My sister is giving me temporary guardianship and I need to enroll him in school but Charles County, MD public schools require something signed by a judge granting approval. I am trying not to hire a lawyer to do this because of the cost. How do I go about getting temporary guardianship? What is the fastest way to do so? My sister's flight leaves tomorrow and the school failed to tell us all of this prior to them flying here from the West Coast. HELP!
