Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
I was charged with a Crime in 2013 and got a lawyer through a family friend. I was never told the rates and there was no contract signed. Now he is trying to sue me for $1000 almost 5 years later! Anything i can do about this?

Yes you can. Please see if the time for responding to the Complaint has not run out because you have an absolute right to plead the Statute of Limitations which is 3 years in Md....And you should check the Maryland Case Search to see when the case was filed.
I should also tell you that the Limitations runs from your last payment of legal fees to the attorney, Plaintiff.
Good luck!...
