Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Grandma and Aunt threw my stuff away

I lived with my mom dad and brother at my grandmas. I had lived there since age 9. My mom passed away (grandmas daughter in March 08) My dad moved out my brother stayed there. Last May I got a job in Va beach 4 hours away from where I lived. I had to start fast and told my grandmother that I would make arrangements to pick up my stuff when I had time off and a vehicle to do so. I was told that would be fine. I found out now my desk, bed, numerous items were thrown out by my grandma and a aunt who lives locally. Who been bugging my grandma to sell the house. I never changed my legal resicidence from Maryland because there was a plan to move back there. I would like to recover my lost items value. They were never to be thrown out.

You would have to sue your grandmother for failing to protect and preserve your property. The value of the claim is whatever these items were worth at the time of their loss, not replacement cost, so it's probably very little. Apparently she provided you with a home for a long time. Are you prepared to do that?
