Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

I made an agreement with my children's father that we would both split our federal income taxes together and I never stipulated how many years or for how long and now I'm being sued for $10,000.00 from my children's father and he is just starting to pay his child support. What rights do I have in this case and can I win this case?
