Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland
I reside in Baltimore Maryland, and have been sued by a Karate instructor for breach of contract for 1150.00. He illegaly went into my account a day before payment was due and now sueing me. I received an unknown certified letter and never signed at post office, they then stated I was served. a postponment letter was sent for a court date and rescheduled and I didn't go and the judgement was ruled in their favor. Can I fight it due to never receiving and not knowing where it was coming from?

If it's still within 30 days from entry of judgment, you can file a motion to set the judgment aside based upon lack of service of process. You have to assert in your motion that you have a valid legal defense and wish a trial. You will then in all likelihood be given your day in court.
