Marriages entered into solely for the purpose of immigration benefits is immigration fraud, which is a crime. The penalties associated with this, besides lifetime loss of any immigration benefits, include fines up to $250,000 and/or up to 5 years in prison. This is true for both parties -- the intending immigrant and the US citizen spouse as well. Your friend should not do this.
They are planning to commit a serious crime - marriage fraud for immigration purposes. See response above.
In addition, if this woman is already in deportation/removal proceedings, any marriage will be scrutinized because oftentimes people enter into fraudulent marriages to avoid being removed/deported.
