Please explain "at will" employment.

Does it really exist? Can a company really use this to fire you?

An at will employment state permits the employer and employee to severe the relationship without recourse. If an employee is at will, an employer can fire an employee for a good reason, a stupid reason, or no reason at all. However, there are legally recoginized exceptions, which include, but are not limited to, race, sex, and age discrimination.
