Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Maryland

MRI results

I went to an orthopedist is January because I was having pain in my neck and numbing in my left arm. I was sent for an MRI. I called the office about a week after the MRI was done and was told that the results hadn't come in, but I would be contacted if there were any findings. Since then numbness and pain has come and gone and I've been taking aleve to help with the symptoms. Last week my arm started going numb every day and the neck pain came back severly. I called my PCP and he requested the MRI report from the lab. I got the results today...not only do I have two pinched nerves and a bulging disc in my neck, but a tumor on my thyroid was also present. My PCP asked if I had been notified of these results and I told him I hadn't. I now have to go through a lot of testing and treatment for the tumor as well as physical therapy for my neck. Is there anything that can be done about a doctor not notifying you of lab results like this?? I could have started treatment six months ago...

Re: MRI results

Did a delay in getting the diagnosis cause a worsening of your condition, such as a growth in the tumor? You will need a medical opinion as to the effect of the provider's failure to give you prompt notice of the results. You should speak with your doctor about this issue.
