Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

A family in our community is going through a messy divorce. One night the husband came to my house(drunk) and accused me of having an affair with his soon to be ex-wife. He did this in front of my wife. I never had an inappropriate relationship with her, but we were friends. Needless to say my wife is very upset and stressed. Furthermore, we just recently we found out that he is blaming me (in the courts) for his failed marriage and that I might have to appear in court. My wife and I feel we are being harassed and want nothing to do with their problems.

Do I have to appear in court? What can I do to stop the harassment/ lies ?

Thank you for your time.

Based upon the facts you have provided, you do have to appear in court as indicated in the subpoena. Have you talked with her attorney about this? Normally, opposing counsel will contact you to discuss the matter with you. Also, if you have a legal basis to quash the subpoena, you should contact an attorney to file this document on your behalf. However, you must have a legal basis to do so, not "I just don't want to be involved."
